Report: Illinois Coaches Threaten To Boycott Bowl
(CBS) According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, four Illinois football coaches have threatened to boycott the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl if they can't settle a contract dispute with the university.
The report alleges assistants Joe Gilbert, Jeff Brohm, DeAndre Smith and Chip Long may skip the bowl. The four said they were unaware they were signing a one-year contract and were told it was a two-year deal.
Interim head coach VicKoenning said he doesn't know what the coaches will do.
"I'm trying to stay out of it," Koenning said at the pep rally Friday. "That's their deal. Some things happened in the middle there and we didn't realize we didn't have two-year contracts until we were released (a few weeks ago)."
