Study: Nylon, Spandex Leggings Help Prevent Muscle Aches

CHICAGO (WBBM) - Millions of Americans have committed to a new regimen of diet and exercise on this, the first weekend of the New Year. A new study focusing on women has some advice on how to avoid achy muscles.

Researchers studied women and their workouts. Those who put on tightly woven nylon and spandex leggings after a workout were less achy one to three days later than those who wore no tights.

The reason it worked? The tights provided compression. The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research reports, constrictive clothing may actually help decrease swelling and boost blood flow.
