Buffone: Bears Don't Deserve The Playoffs

(WSCR) While watching the first round of the NFL playoffs this past weekend, former Bear Doug Buffone couldn't help but wonder where the Bears went wrong this season.

Buffone joined The McNeil and Spiegel Show to discuss the playoffs and why the Bears aren't there.

"You can't help yourself by comparing (the Bears) to other teams and saying: What if? What if I had those wide receivers?" Buffone said. "What if I had that offensive coordinator who did something other than just try to run the football? ... The Bears never tried to go for the jugular. I don't know if it was Mike Martz who did that or what.

"How about having three Pro Bowl offensive lineman like the Saints have? How would you like that? ... When you look at this, you say to yourself, 'What the hell did the Bears do?' I mean, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs, there's no question about it. You saw some good football yesterday, some good things being done. It makes you wonder what should be done with the Chicago Bears. If you go on the premise that you have your quarterback, then you need to build around him."
