JOLIET, Ill. (CBS) — A Will County man will spend the next 3 1/2 years in prison for molesting a 6-year-old girl who saw him as a “trusted family friend.”
Alberto Garcia Jr., 61, of Monee, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse before Will County Judge Edward Burmila, but he offered no statement when given an opportunity to make one.
“Mr. Garcia, your conduct is not only disgusting, it’s loathsome,” Burmila said.
Police said on June 26, Garcia picked up the little girl and claimed he was taking her to a store. But he instead took her to his home in the 6200 block of West Monee-Manhattan Road in Monee, and molested her.
The girl’s family called police that night after Garcia brought her home.
Garcia, who appeared in the courtroom in a wheelchair, faced as many as seven years in prison. His attorney said Garcia has two daughters and worked as a landscaper.

If he “faced” seven years, why WAS he only given 3-1/2? Judge Burmila was way too good to him and I would like to know why.

Wow landscapers scare me, when I was kid there was a little girl in our town, I went to school with who disapeared by a landscaper named Gonder he cut that little girl to pieces after he donre his evil deeds. He died in prison and so should this sicko.

I understand prisoners have a way of taking care of child molesters in prison and I hope this moron gets what he deserves. Judge Burmila needs to be fired if that was the best he could do for this child molester. Remember him when he runs for reelection.

One reason why sex crimes against children continue to happen is because of sentences like this…he affected this girl’s entire life, and he gets 3 1/2 years? Shameful. Not only will he likely be in “protective custody” but he’ll also likely get out early due to overcrowding.
One way to stop this is to have harsher sentences, and put all sex offenders in with the general population, and let prison justice happen.
