Two Found Shot To Death In Country Club Hills

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (CBS)- The bodies of two people were found shot to death inside their home in Country Club Hills early Saturday, and family members said a relative was in police custody.

Pauline Betts-Bracy and her husband, Nathaniel Bracy, had moved to Country Club Hills from Englewood just a few months ago, to have a more quiet life, family members said.

Betts-Bracy had realized her dream of starting a children's transportation company. But friends say the peaceful existence she created was shattered when a relative gunned her and her husband down in their Country Club Hills condo at 19335 S. Oakwood.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said the couple was shot multiple times.

Family members say Betts-Bracy called Country Club Hills police Friday morning to report her life was being threatened by the family member, who was in custody Saturday night.

"She was very scared and she spoke with the police officers and she was coming here today to make a restraining order against the person who did this to her, and unfortunately she didn't get a chance to make it," family friend Melinda Cordingley told reporters.

"We lost two great people last night who could probably have still been here today, if something would have been done about it," she added.

Police made no statements about the case Saturday.
