CRETE, Ill. (CBS) – A Chicago man was arrested in south suburban Crete last week for arranging to meet and have sex with a 14-year-girl who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Jesus C. Martinez, 41, was charged with indecent solicitation of a child, traveling within the state with the intent of having sex with a child unlawful grooming.
Chuck Pelkie, a spokesman for the Will County state’s attorney’s office, said Martinez was talking to who he thought was a 14-year-old girl from Dec. 29 to Jan. 12. He was arrested after agreeing to meet with her Jan. 12.
Bail has been set at $50,000. Martinez is due back in court at the Will County Courthouse on Feb. 3.

This sounds like another case of police entrapment. Creating a crime where one doesn’t exist with the sole purpose being to make an arrest! Also, what the hell is unlawful grooming??

This is no different than selling someone a bag of pot and arresting them as they are walking away. It’s also the same as a cop dressing up like a working girl and then arresting a guy when he busts a move. Granted, this guy should have known better to think he made the score on a fourteen year old, but it is still entrapement none the less! Police sting= entrapment.

Seems like until they catch him with a young girl, nothing illegal happened at all.. everyone knows people lie on the internet, so you can’t believe anything.. so he was going to meet someone, and then determine who they were.. I don’t understand how this is illegal

I think unlawful grooming is the shaving of a young hottie’s snatty. Maybe he had a shaving kit with him. The police should elaborate, so we all know what it really means.
