CHICAGO (CBS) – A veteran Gary police officer says what has happened over the past three weeks is unprecedented: The shooting of three children, all under age 15.
First was the Christmas Day shooting of 7-year-old Leonard Cobb, who was shot in the head. He was last reported in critical condition.
No one is in custody.

And in the hours right before New Year’s Eve, a 14-year-old boy was shot as he sat in a car.
Over the weekend, a 2-year-old girl was shot in the head — an accidental shooting, as she played with other children, Gary Police Corporal Gabrielle King said.
“To be honest with you, I’ve been in law enforcement almost 27 years,” King said. “And just thinking back, I can’t remember it ever being that many in that short of a time span.”
King says the girl was shot with a handgun that had been left out – sitting under a television in the room where the children were playing.

But the shooting of kids over 16 is just business as usual for Gary, IN.
Another item that is hard to believe…a Gary cop was able to pronounce UNPRECEDENTED without the obligatory followup of YA KNOW WHAT IMMA SAYIN…
