(CBS) The Bears announced they interviewed Jason Licht Monday for their vacant general manager job.
Licht is currently the director of pro personnel for the New England Patriots.
His experience under Bill Belichick could be a good thing for the Bears, but the Chicago Tribune cautions that he has never actually sat in the Patriots’ draft room.
Licht is the first candidate to officially interview with the Bears. According to the Bears’ team-controlled web site, they also plan on interviewing Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery, Chargers director of player personnel Jimmy Raye and Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.
Bears director of player personnel Tim Ruskell also remains an in-house candidate.
