Zaidman: Bears Need To Find 'Right' Guy

(WSCR) With the GM search well under way, Bears expert Zach Zaidman joined The Mully and Hanley Show to discuss what he thinks the team needs to do.

For the time being, the Bears have narrowed their search down to four candidates: Chiefs scouting director Phil Emery, Patriots personnel director Jason Licht, Chargers personnel director Jimmy Raye and Giants scouting director Marc Ross.

Zaidman said the Bears need to look past what each candidate's teams have done, and look at what the individual person contributed.

"I think all the candidates have the kind of background that fits what Ted Phillips talked about the day he met with the media after letting Jerry Angelo go," Zaidman said. "They all have extensive college scouting backgrounds. The question is, you have to find the right guy. What I mean by the right guy is the guy who truly played a role in picking the talent for the organizations he worked with. That's the key. It's one thing to be part of successful organizations, but it's another to be the one who had his sleeves rolled up and did the nuts and bolts in terms of find the talent for that team."
