(WSCR) It’s easy to make Carlos Boozer’s 31 points the focal point of the Bulls’ drudging of the Suns on Tuesday night, but there was something else that caught one Bulls expert’s eye.

It was the return of Rip Hamilton. The Bulls biggest offseason addition returned to the starting lineup last night after being hampered by a strained groin muscle and quietly made his presence known.

“The big one to me was the return of Richard Hamilton,” K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. “I thought, even in limited minutes, he gave you a glimpse again of what this offense can be when he is fully healthy and acclimated. This is a really veteran guy who knows how to play. He runs the wing incredibly well on the fast break and opens up a lot of shots for other people just by his presence on the floor.”

Hamilton’s veteran leadership and knowledge of the game was evident last night, even in limited minutes.

“If you talked to people who have played with Rip, he does score and he is a shooter, but he makes the right play,” Johnson said. “When two (defenders) come at him, he gets the ball to the open man. He had six assists in limited minutes last night. You could just see that the balls was moving. … It’s a really good sign of things to come once Rip gets acclimated.”
