CHICAGO (CBS) — A 79-year-old man is dead, after his apartment went up in flames in the Uptown neighborhood overnight.

Firefighters were called to an apartment complex at 4616 N. Beacon St., near Wilson Avenue, just after 9 p.m. Thursday.

They found Edward Fitzsimmons unresponsive at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office says Fitzsimmons was dead at upon being found.

The fire was contained to one room, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Friday morning.
