Riverside Police Seek Man Who Followed 10-Year-Old Girl To School

RIVERSIDE, Ill. (STMW) - Police are searching for a man who may have followed a 10-year-old child to school Wednesday afternoon in west suburban Riverside.

Police say it happened near Ames School 26th and Westover around 8:20 a.m. but wasn't reported to police until 4:30 p.m., a release from Riverside police said.

The child said that the man was in a full size green van, possibly an older model with noticeable rust all along the bottom of the vehicle and white lines along the sides.

He followed the girl while she was walking to school, the release said.

The driver was described as a white man, 20 to 14, with brown and red hair and a goatee. He was also wearing a black or navy baseball hat.

Police say the man did not get out of the vehicle or make any physical attempt to force the child into the car.

Anyone with information should call Riverside police at (708) 447-2127.
