Man Stabbed Outside Wrigleyville Bar

UPDATED 01/30/12 9:29 a.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 24-year-old man thought he was getting a hug outside a Wrigleyville bar over the weekend, but instead he was stabbed multiple times.

Police say the victim had gotten into an argument with his alleged assailant in the men's room at the Deuce's and The Diamond Club, 3505 N. Clark St.

The two men separated after the fight, but about 45 minutes later, the soon-to-be victim was standing outside the bar talking on his cell phone when the other man came outside. He walked up to the victim, as if to hug him, but instead he stabbed him in the back and upper left arm, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, Sullivan said.

The assailant fled the area and was not in custody as of Monday morning.

The swank two-level Deuce's and the Diamond Club opened last summer.

The stabbing is under investigation by Belmont Area detectives.
