(WSCR) To one former Bears quarterback, the Bears made the safe choice in hiring Phil Emery as their new general manager.

Jim Miller joined The McNeil and Spiegel Show to discuss the Bears’ new hire.

“I think he’s the comfort signing,” Miller said. “He’s the guy that they know. The one thing that I take throughout all these teams in the National Football League is that the only team that has really given their coach full control would be Jeff Fisher and the St. Louis Rams. I just think you see team after team wanting to take control of their organization again. That’s why Jerry Angelo is out. Phil Emery is a guy they can control. He understands the inner workings of Halas Hall.”
