Bears Linebacker J.T. Thomas Arrested On Drug Charge

(CBS) Bears linebacker J.T. Thomas was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor possession of marijuana Monday morning in Morgantown, West Virginia.

The West Virginia MetroNews reports Thomas was pulled over at 3:55 a.m. after speeding while going the wrong way down a one-way street. Police then found what appeared to be marijuana when Thomas went into the glove compartment to get his registration.

Thomas was in Morgantown for the weekend raising money for his foundation, according to the report. He played college football at West Virginia before the Bears drafted him in the sixth round last year. He missed his entire rookie season with a back injury.

Because police found less than 15 grams of marijuana, he is only charged with a misdemeanor.

In the wake of these events, the Bears released the following statement:

"We are aware of the arrest of J.T. Thomas in Morgantown, WV. We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the arrest."
