Serial Bank Robber Captured In Kentucky

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man wanted for seven bank robberies in the Midwest has been arrested in Kentucky.

The first robbery happened six weeks ago in South Bend, Ind.

The suspect then hit a bank in south suburban Lansing before robbing five other banks in Ohio, Wisconsin and Kentucky.

Beaver Bernard Russell, 47, was caught by police last week after a car chase in which the vehicle he was driving flipped over. Russell was attempted to flee police after two more robberies in Kentucky.

Russell is now charged with the robberies and admitted to five purse snatchings in Northwest Indiana, police said.
