New Portal Site To Make Life Easier For Cook County Property Owners

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cook County property owners will soon have an easier time finding online information about their homes and property taxes.

As WBBM Newsradio's John Waelti reports, right now, Cook County property owners have to visit up to six different Web sites to get information on their homes and property taxes, and the information only goes back a year.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle says the county's new property tax portal will have all of that information on one site, and the history goes back five years.

"For the first time in county history, a property owner can enter his or her address, and receive a snapshot of his or her property that includes all the information that he or she would want to access," Preckwinkle said.

The new portal is at cookcountypropertyinfo.com, but the site won't be up and running until April 1.
