Man Grabs, Tries To Kidnap Girl On SW Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police have issued a community alert to let Southwest Side residents know about the attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl last week.

About 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, a man approached an 11-year-old girl on foot in the 6000 block of South Lawndale Avenue, and grabbed her by the arm, the alert from Wentworth Area detectives said.

The girl was able to run away and report the incident to her parents.

The man was described as a white Hispanic man, about 40 - 50 years old, 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds. He had white or grayish hair, spokes Spanish to the girl and also wore a long, dark raincoat.

Anyone who might have any information on this incident or the suspect is asked to call Wentworth Area detectives, at (312) 747-8380.
