1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Separate Shootings On Same Block

CHICAGO (STMW) — One man is dead and another was wounded in separate shootings on the same Back of the Yards neighborhood block Sunday afternoon on the South Side.

The first shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Hermitage Avenue when a man was shot multiple times, police said.

Few details were available, but police said the man died from the injuries.

About four hours later, a 37-year-old man was shot in same black, police said.

That man was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand, according to police.

It was not immediately known if the shootings were connected.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
