2 Officers, 2 Others Hurt In Niles Squad Car Crash

NILES, Ill. (CBS) — Four people, including two Niles police officers, were hospitalized Tuesday after a crash.

The officers, who not on an emergency call at the time, were stopped at a stop sign at Washington Street and Churchill Road around 9:20 p.m. Monday when two other cars crashed into each other at the intersection, police told the Chicago Tribune.

The wrecked cars then crashed into the driver’s side of the squad car, the Tribune reported.

The officers and at least two others were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police told the newspaper.

Citations in the accident are pending. Police tell the Tribune none of the injuries are life-threatening.
