Blackhawks Acquire Defenseman Oduya, Trade John Scott

(CBS) The Blackhawks have acquired veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya from the Winnipeg Jets.

Oduya has two goals and 11 assists in 63 games with the Jets this season. The 30-year-old Swedish defenseman is in his seventh year in the NHL and comes to the Blackhawks after three years with the with the Jets/Thrashers franchise.

The Blackhawks sent a second and third round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft to Winnipeg in exchange for Oduya. The defenseman is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

In a separate deal, the Blackhawks also sent defenseman John Scott to the Rangers for a fifth-round pick for Scott.

Forward Andrew Shaw was also recalled from Rockford.

Hope he drinks. This team is filled with drunks.

He’s good, because he’s someone they got in a trade
    ahhhh. . .um. . .

All drunks? Why have we not been notified!?!

  • Ken

Let’s see what Oduya can do to get the Blackhawks’ defense and their power play back in sync.

I wasn’t expecting much on the trade deadline but then again look at who our GM is? Bowman has already f#@##ed up the 2010 Stanley Cup champs the only rade I want to see is his a.s.s. stepping down and bring in a real GM with hockey knowledge. Bring back Dale and fire stan

  • Larry Horse's Arse Horse's Arse

This team has been in disarray for two months. Every aspect of their game is lacking: offense, defense, goaltending, PK and PP. They have one PPG in 40 chances over the last month. The addition of Oduya isn’t going to address all of these problems. Plus, who knows how long Toews is out.

This team will finish no higher than sixth and perhaps might not even make the playoffs. They are sinking fast enough and have three teams outside of the playoff zone that no playoffs is a real possibility.

Q is gone at the end of the season. Little Bowman will be gone in a year, although he should be gone right now.

I agree with Larry I think Q is a great coach but little Bowman should be the first to go what an idiotic idea that was from day one hiring a guy as GM with no hockey experience Scotty proabably made a deal with Rocky saying I’ll only be affiliated with this organization if you hire my son as GM. Rocky better let his b.a.l.l.s. drop and get rid of STAN BOWMAN A.S.A.P.

    Me want see Oduya
    good hockey

The ONLY good thing to come out of this trade will be listening to Eddie O’s jokes about his name!!
