Boy, 17, Hit And Killed By Car On I-90

UPDATED 02/27/12 12:15 p.m.

DES PLAINES, Ill. (CBS) -- A teenage boy has died after being hit by a vehicle on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway early Monday.

Witnesses said Scott Wolf, 17, was already lying in a lane of traffic on outbound Interstate 90 when he was hit around 1 a.m. near Elmhurst Road.

Wolf, of the 200 block of Cambridge Street in Des Plaines, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Police found the teen's abandoned car on the Elmhurst Road overpass.

A source said the vehicle was still running when authorities arrived.

An autopsy still must be conducted at the Medical Examiner's office to determine the cause of Wolf's death, but there are reports that he committed suicide by jumping from the overpass into traffic.

All lanes of the highway were closed for several hours as investigators tried to piece together the events. The highway reopened in time for the morning rush.
