UPDATED 02/27/12 12:15 p.m.

DES PLAINES, Ill. (CBS) — A teenage boy has died after being hit by a vehicle on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway early Monday.

Witnesses said Scott Wolf, 17, was already lying in a lane of traffic on outbound Interstate 90 when he was hit around 1 a.m. near Elmhurst Road.

Wolf, of the 200 block of Cambridge Street in Des Plaines, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police found the teen’s abandoned car on the Elmhurst Road overpass.

A source said the vehicle was still running when authorities arrived.

An autopsy still must be conducted at the Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of Wolf’s death, but there are reports that he committed suicide by jumping from the overpass into traffic.

All lanes of the highway were closed for several hours as investigators tried to piece together the events. The highway reopened in time for the morning rush.

The Sun-Times Media Wire contributed to this report.

Just wanted to ask you about what soluhd be in this synopsis.Do I tell the whole story with spoilers and everything, or do I just touch on what the story consists of without spoiling anything. Or does both count? Thanks

  • Rich

In 2007,I almost did what this boy did. Just the feeling of nothingness, of utter sadness, all of those feelings running through you, I’ve been there. Only through the help of a good samaratin-a total stranger-did I not jump. I only wish that he would have thought through everything. I will say a prayer for him and his family and friends. God bless his soul.

righttrack, you couldn’t have known him and to be as callous about a family losing their 17 year old son and a 19 year old losing his little brother, You should be ashamed of yourself.
