Gabriel: Diverse WR Draft Class Gives Bears Options

(WSCR) It's no secret the Bears need to bolster their wide receiving corps.

Fortunately for the Bears, this year's draft class is not only deep at wide receiver, it's diverse.

"It's a pretty good class, receiver-wise," Greg Gabriel of the NFL Network said. "It always is, but (this year,) you've got different types. You've got big guys that can run. You've got little guys, little slot guys like Johnny Knox-type guys. There's a combination of all of them. I think (the Bears) are going to get people who will be able to help them at that position. They might get two, depending on how they use their draft choices. I think that's one of the stronger areas of the draft this year.

Gabriel said it's not just a combination of size and speed that makes a receiver a good prospect -- there's much more to it.

"If you can get a big receiver who can run, that's an advantage," he said. "Also, you want to look at the agility drills because you don't want it to be straight-line speed. If he can run fast and change direction, has good body control, that means he can get in and out of cuts quickly. That's what you're looking for."
