Rose Costs Crowd Big Mac, Feels Like 'Jackie Moon'
(WSCR) Yes, Derrick Rose scored 32 points and had nine assists in Tuesday's 99-95 win over the Hornets.
What he didn't do, however, was make at least 1-of-2 free throws with 4.3 seconds to play. If Rose had hit one of the free throws, the Bulls would have scored 100 points, allowing each fan in attendance to receive a free Big Mac from McDonalds.
"I feel like Jackie Moon off of 'Semi-Pro,'" Rose said. "That's all I was thinking about.
"I saved McDonald's a lot of money, so they should be happy."
Moon is the basketball player played by actor Will Ferrell from the 2008 film 'Semi-Pro.' In the movie, Moon acts as the owner, player and coach of the Flint Michigan Tropics. The Tropics had a promotion where, if the team scored 125 points, each fan would receive a free corn dog.
With 30 seconds left in the game and the Tropics up 124-117, Moon begged his teammates not to score because the cash-strapped team didn't have any corn dogs. He even blocked a shot by a teammate, but the Tropics eventually scored.
