Police Nab Suspected Serial Burglars In Skokie

SKOKIE, Ill. (CBS) -- Police have arrested the two men they believe are responsible for a series of burglaries in Skokie.

As WBBM Newsradio's Brandis Friedman reports, it was a watchful neighbor who noticed two men crawling out of the window of a home in the 7800 block of Kenneth Avenue in Skokie on Feb. 13.

That neighbor called police, who responded to the scene and arrested Jonathan Staffney, 21, of the 1400 block of Emerson Street in Evanston, and Dante Huff, 18, of the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue in Evanston.

Both stand charged with residential burglary, and Staffney is also charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

Staffney and Huff are suspected in a string of other burglaries going ack to Jan. 27.

The other burglaries happened in the 9200 block of Ridgeway Avenue, 9500 block of Lawndale Avenue, 4100 block of Greenwood Street and 8600 block of Keystone Avenue on Jan. 27, all during a 10-hour period.

Staffney was ordered held on $20,000 and will appear for a preliminary hearing March 8. Bond information for Huff was not immediately available.
