CHICAGO (STMW) – A 57-year-old taxi driver died following an accident Sunday morning in the Near Northwest Side Bucktown neighborhood that may have been caused by a medical condition he suffered.

About 7:14 a.m. the driver, who was the only person in his 2007 Mercury Marquis taxi, was heading west on the 1800 block of Armitage Avenue when he lost control of the car, hit a parked vehicle, then struck the fence of a residential building, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Mirabelli said.

Apparently the accident was caused when the driver suffered some type of medical condition, Mirabelli said. The exact cause and manner of his death would not be known until an autopsy is performed, most likely on Monday.
