Rash Of Strong-Armed Robberies Reported In Canaryville, Fuller Park

CHICAGO (STMW) – Police are warning South Side residents of an increase in strong-armed robberies in the Canaryville and Fuller Park neighborhoods.

The robbers approach people walking or getting in or out of their vehicles and take their property by force, according to a community alert from Central Area detectives. No weapons were displayed in any of the incidents.

The robberies happened about 7:05 p.m. in the 300 block of East 51st Street; about 8:20 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Blackstone Avenue; about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 29 in the 4500 block of South State Street and 9 a.m. in the 5500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, the alert said.

The descriptions of the robbers vary but are generally described as 18- to 25-year-old black men wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, police said.

    You are miss informing the public about the areas you are reporting these crimes. If you knew the neighborhood boundaries you would know that Canaryville goes from the tracks west to Halsted, and from 49th to 39th. All of these crimes took place east and south of Canaryvile.

    Come on let’s get it right for once.
