Zawaski: Signing Carcillo 'A No Brainer'
By Jay Zawaski-
(CBS) Monday morning, the Blackhawks announced the have signed Daniel Carcillo to a two year contract. The winger, who is out for the season after knee surgery, was originally signed to a one year deal this past July.
While this move may be a head scratcher to some fans, to me it's a no brainer. When Carcillo was in the lineup, he was very effective. He spent much of his time on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane or Marian Hossa. While he never became they physical force many expected him to become, his impact on the ice was enough to justify a new deal. In 26 games with the Hawks, he scored 2 goals, recorded 9 assists, and accumulated 82 penalty minutes. He was also a +10.
