Man Accused Of Bomb-Making Now Also Charged With Having Child Porn

WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) - A Wood Dale man accused of building explosives with ingredients he bought online has been charged with also obtaining child pornography from the Internet, DuPage County authorities said Tuesday.

Bryan Roehr was charged with aggravated possession of child pornography after investigators who searched his computer found "hundreds of photos and videos" containing images of children, Wood Dale police said in a release.

Some children depicted in the pornographic images appeared to be younger than 13, according to police.

The computer was seized at Roehr's home in August when the 24-year-old was charged with illegal possession of explosives and criminal damage to property for building and detonating homemade bombs, prosecutors said.

He was arrested after police searching his home found bomb-making equipment that included pipes, a five-foot-long fuse and bags containing chemicals.

Roehr exploded one bomb in a trash container outside a suburban church and threatened to set off a pipe bomb at the home of a woman he claimed owed him money, authorities have said.

If convicted of the new charge, Roehr faces a possible seven-year prison term.

Roehr remains in the DuPage County Jail.
