CROWN POINT, Ind. (STMW) – Her voice strong, the 90-year-old woman walked with a cane to the witness stand, where she described a harrowing rape that occurred last year.

The woman, who was 89 at the time, said Secore Joffee King repeatedly threatened to kill her during the ordeal in her own Gary home. On Tuesday he was sentenced to 50 years, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

“You wanna die? I’ll kill you,” she recalled King saying as he overpowered her and held scissors to her heart before he asked her for sex, then choked her until she couldn’t breathe or see. The woman managed to grab King’s privates and squeeze.

King, of Chicago, stole four frozen dinners and $7 from the woman’s home and brutally assaulted her, leaving her with internal injuries and an eight-day stay in the hospital.

“I’m still not fully recovered,” the woman said, noting King stole her dignity and, as a widow, her chastity.

“You have one more judge to face and his name is God.”

King, 24, was arrested two days after the Jan. 28, 2011, assault by Gary police Cpl. Daniel Quasney wearing the same T-shirt that the victim described from the attack.

Lake Superior Court Judge Diane Ross Boswell imposed a 50-year sentence outlined in King’s plea agreement for rape, strangulation and burglary. During the sentencing hearing, King did not make a statement and sat with what appeared to be a smile on his face.

Defense attorney Linda Kollintzas said King is remorseful, but the judge said it didn’t appear so to her.

“The presence he is demonstrating in this courtroom today does now show remorse,” Boswell said.

Kollintzas said King felt humiliated by what he had done.
