4 Critically Injured In SW Side Crash While Fleeing Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) - Four people were critically injured early Saturday in a car crash after fleeing from a shooting on the Southwest Side.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in the 5100 block of Maplewood Avenue at 2 a.m., police said. A vehicle fleeing from the scene crashed at West 44th Street and South Washtenaw Avenue.

An EMS Plan 1 was called for the traffic accident that critically injured four people, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight said. Two people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and two others were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Genders and ages were not immediately available.

The EMS Plan 1, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was secured at 2:40 p.m.
