Girl, 11, Killed By Mom’s Moving Van After Jumping

DOLTON, Ill. (CBS) — An 11-year-old girl is dead after jumping out of the moving van her mother was driving in Dolton, and being run over.

As WBBM Newsradio’s David Roe reports, the as-year-unidentified girl’s mother told police the girl had walked off school grounds after some kind of an incident Monday afternoon.

The girl’s mother found her near 154th Street and Dorchester Avenue, and placed her in the back seat of her minivan.

But the girl jumped out of one of the side doors after the van began to move, and ended up being run over by the rear tires, police said.

The girl was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, Ind. where she was pronounced dead, the statement said.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
