Suspect In New York Restaurant Murder Caught In Palos Hills

PALOS HILLS, Ill. (CBS) -- A fugitive has been arrested in Palos Hills, after allegedly stabbing and killing a man who was out celebrating his engagement in the New York borough of Staten Island this past weekend.

CBS New York reports Redinel Dervishaj, 35, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. at the home of his aunt, in the 0-99 block of Cour Michelle in Palos Hills.

A task force comprised of the NYPD's fugitive squad, Staten Island Homicide, NYPD 123rd Precinct detectives, U.S. Marshals, the Cook County Sheriff's office and Palos Hills police were involved in the arrest, WINS reported.

Dervishaj is charged with plunging a butcher knife into Anthony Lacertosa, 27, outside the Espana Restaurant in the Staten Island community of Annadale early Saturday morning.

Lacertosa had lit the cake with his fiancée, Bridgette Schneider, for their engagement party just hours earlier, when some kind of dispute broke out between him and a restaurant employee.

The suspect has a checkered past, CBS New York reports. Dervishaj was shot in August 2007 in the New York borough of Queens by a man who told police Dervishaj threatened to rape his wife if he did not come up with $20,000, according to CBS New York.

His brother is also apparently an infamous Albanian mob figure, CBS New York reported.
