Report: Ohio’s Groce Set To Become New Illinois Coach

(CBS) It looks as though the whirlwind that has been Illinois’ search for a new basketball coach will soon settle.

According to a report, barring unforeseen circumstances, Illinois is set to hire Ohio University’s John Groce as its next basketball coach.

The Tribune reported a flight from the Illinois airport to the Ohio University airport in Athens, Ohio, was scheduled to land at 1:47 p.m. CT.

Groce, who has coached at Ohio since 2008, has led the Bobcats to two of the last three NCAA tournaments. They played in the Sweet 16 this season after beating Michigan and South Florida.
