Woman, 2 Children Hospitalized After Pilsen Fire
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 4-month-old child is among those recovering after flames swept through a home in the Pilsen neighborhood.
The fire broke out around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday in the basement of the three-story building at 1332 W. 19th St., between Loomis and Throop streets, fire officials said.
Investigators say the baby, a woman and another young child were taken to area hospitals in good condition after suffering minor smoke inhalation.
A man also had to be rescued from a second-story window during the fire, but refused medical treatment, fire officials told the Sun-Times Media Wire.
The fire was out by 2:30 a.m., but the building has been left uninhabitable for the time being due to water damage, the Sun-Times Media Wire reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
