Woman, Teen Boy Wounded In Altgeld Gardens Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) — A woman and teenage boy were wounded in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood Wednesday evening on the Far South Side.

The 32-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy were shot about 5:30 p.m. near East 132nd Street and South Langley Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien, citing preliminary information.

The teen was shot in the back and taken to an unidentified hospital, police said. The woman took herself to Roseland Community Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hip.

Area South detectives are investigating.
