(WSCR) The never-ending Theo Epstein compensation saga that was reportedly resolved Wednesday is still ongoing.

Reliever Chris Carpenter, who was sent to Boston as the main trade piece, underwent surgery yesterday on his right elbow. According to a report, the Red Sox said Thursday they do not consider the talks officially over.

Boston reportedly believes Carpenter may have been injured when he was traded to them on Feb. 21.

Both teams, however, agree there was no intent or prior knowledge by the Cubs that misled the Red Sox about Carpenter’s condition.
