Woman Struck And Killed By Metra Train In Glen Ellyn

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (STMW) -- Metra Union Pacific West Line trains are delayed up to an hour and a half Monday afternoon after an outbound train struck and killed a woman in west suburban Glen Ellyn Monday afternoon.

UPW Train No. 33, which left Ogilvie Station in Chicago at 12:40 p.m., struck and killed a 56-year-old woman near the Glen Ellyn station about 1:30 p.m., according to Metra and Glen Ellyn police.

Police are conducting a death investigation, and the woman's identity is not being released, Deputy Police Chief William Holmer said.

The train was scheduled to arrive at Elburn at 2:06 p.m., and is delayed about 93 minutes, according to the Metra website.

Other inbound and outbound trains are delayed about 40 minutes, according to the site.
