(WSCR) Wrestlemania gone wrong?
A friendly wresting match Sunday night turned deadly after 24-year-old Stephen A. Arceneaux III stopped breathing when put in a sleeper hold by his younger cousin before the premiere of Wrestlemania 28.
According to a report, Arceneaux had gathered with friends at a home in Louisiana to watch the pay-per-view event Wrestlemania 28 on TV. That’s when Arceneaux and his 14-year-old cousin began to wrestle on an inflated mattress on the floor.
The younger cousin, who is 5-6 and 110 pounds, put Arceneaux, 5-10 and 220 pounds, in a sleeper hold.
Someone then noticed that Arceneaux was turning blue and told the youngster to release the hold. When he did, witnesses saw that Arceneaux had stopped breathing and dialed 911.
Arceneaux’s girlfriend tried to revive him with CPR, but he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
