CHICAGO (STMW) – A vehicle struck a 9-year-old boy Saturday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The boy was hit about 2:57 p.m. in the 800 block of North Lawler Avenue, Fire Media Affairs said.

He was taken in critical condition with multiple injuries to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Fire Media Affairs said.

The incident was not a hit-and-run accident, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said. It appeared that the boy was running between cars when he was hit by a vehicle, O’Brien said, adding that the driver remained on the scene.

    I’m sorry to hear this.

The child wasn’t near a park or school was he?

Why, do you suppose that a camera posted nearby would have prevented this tragedy?

What kinda “vehicle” struck him? It wasn’t a pink bicycle-built-for-two, was it?!

What does it matter? It was not a hit and run, so no description needed
