Man Arrested After Trying To Steal Sand From Masters

(WSCR) Clayton Baker just wanted some sand.

You can't really blame the guy. In his defense, the golf course at Augusta National is treated as a pristine piece of property, so it's only natural a spectator would want to take a part of that masterpiece home.

According to a report, the 40-year-old Baker was arrested Sunday after police said he attempted to steal sand from the sand trap after the tournaments conclusion.

Richmond County sheriff's Capt. Scott Gay said  Baker slipped under the ropes following the tournament and attempted to put the sand in his cup. He was apprehended after a short foot chase by Augusta National security and sheriff's deputies, and charged with disorderly conduct.

Gay said Baker, who was drinking heavily at the time of the incident, was unsuccessful at getting any of the sand in his cup.
