Temperatures To Hit 70 Or Above, But Rain Coming Late In Day

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Temperatures were mild and pleasant with just a little bit of cloud cover in the midday hours Wednesday, but rain will be coming as a cold front arrives late in the day.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says as of 11:20 a.m., it was already 62 degrees at Midway International Airport at 63 at O'Hare. The coolest temperature was 60 in Valparaiso, Ind.

The high is expected to reach 70 in many areas, and even higher than that in areas to the south of the city.

But later in the day, a cold front will sweep in, and will end up stalling out over the Chicago area beginning late in the day.

Because of that, showers are expected overnight as the low drops to 50, and will continue Thursday and Friday as the daytime highs drop. The high for Thursday is 59, the high for Friday only 51.

Over the weekend, conditions will be sunny, but seasonably cool. The high for Saturday is 50 and for Sunday 53. For next week, the high tops out at 56 Monday and 55 Tuesday.
