Car Plows Into Mattress Store In Skokie
SKOKIE, Ill. (CBS) -- It was a mess Thursday morning at a mattress store in Skokie, after a car plowed right into the middle of the showroom.
The salesman was just happy the merchandise softened the blow of the crash.
The accident happened just after 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Bedding Experts store at 4800 Dempster St. in Skokie.
The car crashed through a front window and took out nearly a dozen mattresses.
No one was hurt, but the owner is feeling the financial pain.
"There were Tempur-Pedic mattresses; Sealy mattresses. With the window, probably $25-30,000 worth of damage," said mattress salesman John Belcher.
Witnesses say the woman lost control of the car while turning left. So far, no tickets have been issued.
