Kerry Wood Goes On DL; Scott Maine Called Up

(CBS) Kerry Wood was placed on the disabled list Friday morning and Scott Maine was called up from Triple-A Iowa.

Wood has been battling shoulder soreness since spring training and flew home early from the Cubs’ recent road trip to get treatment.

There were reports that Randy Wells, who was optioned to Triple-A Iowa at the end of spring training, was back at Wrigley Friday morning, fueling speculation that a roster move was coming. The Cubs did make a roster move, but it was Maine getting the call from Iowa to replace Wood.
