(WSCR) Sun-Times sports columnist Joe Cowley has been put on final notice, meaning he is one step away from being fired, after a series of sexist tweets sent from his Twitter account, according to a report.

Cowley is a long-time antagonist on Twitter, but his actions apparently crossed the line while waiting for his flight to take off Sunday. The parade of sexists tweets began when Cowley’s flight was delayed, prompting him to question the ability of a female pilot to operate the aircraft he was a passenger on.

The report indicates Cowley deleted his Twitter account Sunday after a direct order from Sun-Times sports editor Chris DeLuca.
