CHICAGO (CBS) — White Sox pitcher Chris Sale is being sent to the bullpen because of a sore elbow, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Sale, 23, will now be a closer for the Sox. The lefty has a 3-1 record with a 2.81 ERA.

Sale, 23, learned the news in a closed-door session with manager Robin Ventura.

“We’re doing it because we feel it’s best for him, his career and his health,” pitching coach Don Cooper told the Tribune. “It’s the best way to keep him healthy and strong.”
