Man Critically Wounded In Wicker Park Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) – A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times early Saturday in the Wicker Park neighborhood on the Near Northwest Side.

The shooting happened about 1:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of North Wolcott Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The 26-year-old man was walking with some friends when an unknown gunman approached on foot and fired shots, police said.

He was shot multiple times and taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.

The shooting was gang-related, police said.

No one is in custody and Area North detectives are investigating.
