Woman Injured When Lightning Strikes Tree

OAK PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- A woman was injured when lightning struck a tree Sunday afternoon in west suburban Oak Park.

The 57-year-old woman was walking in the 1000 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue when lightning hit a nearby tree and "affected" her, said Oak Park Fire Department Lt. Robert Rentner. He said the woman was not struck by lightning but did not have further details.

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Rentner said.
