Warrant Issued For Husband Of Woman Slain In Dress From Wedding Night

BURBANK, Ill. (CBS) -- Southwest suburban police have issued an arrest warrant for a 30-year-old man wanted for stabbing his newlywed wife to death over the weekend. His wife was found dead just two days after their wedding.

Arnoldo Jimenez and 26-year-old Estrella Carrera were married on Friday at City Hall in Chicago. They had dinner with family and friends that night, then got in a limo to go to their home in Burbank.

On Sunday, Carrera's body was found in the bathtub of her Burbank condo. She had been stabbed multiple times and was still wearing the same silver sequined cocktail dress she wore to the party to celebrate her marriage.

She and Jimenez were last seen around 4 a.m. Saturday, when they left a North Side nightclub, where they were celebrating with friends and family.

Carrera was supposed to pick up her two children, ages 2 and 9, from relatives on Saturday, but she never did, and relatives asked police for a well-being check, leading to the discovery of her dead body Sunday afternoon.

"She was a lovely human being, caring, more like a sister to me than a cousin," Carrera's cousin, Sandy Lopez, said Monday. "No idea why somebody would do this to her."

On Monday, an autopsy determined Carrera died from multiple stab wounds and her death was ruled a homicide.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry at her condo.

Jimenez has not been located since his wife's body was found, but police said they are continuing to follow leads. They have obtained a first-degree murder warrant from a Cook County judge.

Police believe Jimenez is driving a 2006 four-door Maserati with Illinois license plate L641441.

Cook County Sheriff's police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force have been assisting in the investigation.
