CHICAGO (STMW) – A man tried to grab a teenage girl and force her into an alley Monday morning on the Southwest Side.

The 14-year-old girl was walking in the 3900 block of West 31st Street about 9 a.m. when a man attempted to grab her arm and pull her into an alley, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

The girl avoided being grabbed and ran to safety, the alert said.

The suspect is described as a 35- to 40-year-old Hispanic man with short black hair, short goatee and medium complexion, police said. He is between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and weighs 140-150 pounds.

Anyone with information should call police at (312) 747-8380.
